Creating a Baby Halloween Boo Basket
This year will be Ivy’s first Halloween! We all know autumn and winter are my favourite times of year and to be able to share this special season, creating magic and memories with my daughter is so exciting. So of course, I jumped straight on the Halloween boo basket trend and made up a cute little baby Halloween boo basket filled with things I’m sure she’ll love.
If you have a baby who’s too young for trick or treating, keep reading to see what I put in my daughter’s baby Halloween boo basket for some ideas!
What is a Halloween Boo Basket?
A Halloween boo basket is a gift basket filled with Halloween or autumn-themed items. Typically given on Halloween they can be made for anyone, like a partner, family member, friend or baby. I believe the trend came from the US and through social media, primarily TikTok, became a huge hit in the UK too. I only heard of it last year while I was pregnant and knew I needed to create one for Ivy this year!
How to Make a Halloween Boo Basket
I admit I am not a crafty person at all. However, if you enjoy crafts you can knit or sew your own Halloween boo basket, adding felt decorations and personalisations. Alternatively, for those like me who don’t know the first thing about sewing, there are plenty around to buy too. I got Ivy’s boo basket from Homesense for £7.99. There were plenty of designs to choose from and I went for a classic pumpkin-style basket.

What to put in a Baby Halloween Boo Basket
For Ivy’s Halloween boo basket, I thought about the things she currently loves and tried to find some autumnal/Halloween versions.
1. Where’s Mrs Witch Book
Ivy and I love to read books together and we’re big fans of the Where’s Mrs/Mr felt flap books. They’re bright, colourful and interactive, perfect for babies. Where’s Mrs Witch features a whole host of spooky characters to find under the flaps.

2. That’s Not My Bat Book
The Usborne That’s Not My books are also very popular in this house – especially now she’s older and exploring the touchy-feely sensations. As a bat enthusiast, I had to get this one for her Halloween boo basket!

3. Hey Duggee Halloween Book
Ivy is absolutely obsessed with Hey Duggee. Hearing the theme song will always make her smile which is the cutest thing. I picked up the Hey Duggee Halloween book and I’m really excited to read this to her on the day. I just know she’s going to love all the pictures of Duggee and the Squirrels.

4. Halloween Teether Toy
Over the last month, Ivy has been teething, so this spooky Halloween teether toy came at a perfect time. I’ve found she prefers silicone teething toys, over wood or other materials, so she should love chomping on this!

5. Ickle Bot Bath Bomb
Since Ivy will be nine months old on Halloween (I can’t believe how fast she’s growing) I think it’s the perfect time for her first bath bomb. I picked up the Ickle Bot bath bomb in my Lush Halloween haul as it is suitable for babies 6 months and older. This bath bomb will turn the water blue and has a calming lavender and chamomile scent which is ideal for just before bedtime.

6. Colour Changing Halloween Bath Toys
These little spooky duck Halloween toys from Next will make the perfect addition to her Halloween bath. They apparently change colour, with the patterns magically disappearing when put into warm water. Ivy has always loved bathtime so I think she’ll really enjoy these.

7. Light Up Halloween Balloons
These won’t actually be going in her boo basket, but I will be inflating the balloons the night before Halloween to put in the living room, along with her boo basket, for her to play with. She loves balloons. A balloon is what made her crawl for the first time last month and she still loves to chase them. So, I think these light-up Halloween-themed balloons will be really special and will blow her little mind. Because they have a light inside she will, of course, be supervised at all times.
